WhatsApp launched a multi-device feature for everyone earlier this year, allowing users to connect their WhatsApp accounts to four different devices and use them without an internet connection on their smartphone.

There was, however, one major drawback. Users cannot view previous messages, such as a discussion or multimedia information (photos, videos, or document files), shared during a chat on devices other than the registered phone.

WhatsApp is currently testing Multi-device 2.0. Users can now log into WhatsApp from a secondary mobile device, and their chats are securely copied to the companion device, thanks to the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.15.13 update.

Because it was in its early stages and in beta testing, it was only available to a small number of people. WhatsApp Desktop and Web were also working on this feature.

Because the companion mode is still in development, WhatsApp has not provided an update on when it will be available. When the feature is made available to beta testers, another article will be published.
